On the official Stake Plinko page, we focus on the digital casino version of the well-known ball drop game. Each round, we drop a ball into a grid filled with pins. At the bottom, there are slots, each featuring a multiplier. Depending on the slot, our bet is increased, decreased, or stays nearly the same.
Digital Implementation and Differences from the Original
Unlike the famous TV game show, Stake Plinko has no physical parts or material prizes. Here, we play entirely online, wager real money or cryptocurrencies, and rely on a verifiable random number generator. Thanks to provably fair technology, the ball’s path can be tracked and verified by us at any time.
How a Round Works
Before each round, we set three things: our desired bet, the risk level (low, medium, or high), and the number of rows. The more rows we choose, the wider the range of possible outcomes and the higher the potential maximum win. After starting, the ball drops, bounces off up to 255 pins (with 16 rows), and eventually lands in one of the slots. The multiplier and resulting payout are displayed instantly—along with a hash value that lets us check the fairness of the round.
How We Play Plinko
Select Bet and Risk Level
Before we begin, we decide how much we want to bet. At Stake, this is possible from as little as 0.000001 BTC or $0.01 CAD, depending on the chosen currency. Next, we select the risk level: low, medium, or high. Each level changes the possible multipliers that the ball can reach. With low risk, we win more frequently with a maximum of about 5.6×. If we choose medium, the highest multiplier rises to around 13×. At the high-risk level, wins are less frequent, but there’s a chance for extreme multipliers up to 1,000×, provided we play with 16 rows.
Set Number of Rows
Next, we determine how many rows the game board should have. The options are 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, or 16 rows. More rows mean more possible paths and a wider spread of results, as the ball bounces off more pins on its way down. If you play with fewer rows, the round is over more quickly, but the range of outcomes and the maximum payout are lower.
Drop the Ball and Win
With a click on “Play,” we drop the ball. It bounces from pin to pin and finally lands in one of the coloured slots. Each slot has an assigned multiplier, which is clearly displayed. Our winnings are our bet multiplied by this value. The result appears instantly and the amount is credited directly to our balance.

Payouts, Volatility, and RTP
Multipliers by Risk Level
With Stake Plinko, we choose how many rows the game board has and what level of risk we want to take. The highest payout always depends on the combination we select. The more rows we choose, the higher the possible maximum. The following table shows the range of multipliers based on risk level:
| Rows | Low Risk | Medium Risk | High Risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | 0.4x – 13x | 0.3x – 29x | 0.2x – 29x |
| 12 | 0.4x – 22x | 0.3x – 130x | 0.2x – 130x |
| 16 | 0.4x – 29x | 0.3x – 560x | 0.2x – 1,000x |
If the ball lands on the outermost slot, you win the largest multipliers. However, hitting these slots is rare. Especially at high risk, losses of up to 80% of your bet are possible, since the minimum values are at 0.2x.
RTP and House Edge
Stake lists a house edge of 1.5% for Plinko. This results in an RTP of 98.5%. This value remains constant, no matter how many rows or which risk level you choose. The multiplier table is adjusted accordingly. While short-term wins can fluctuate, the long-term payout rate statistically always remains at 98.5%.
Volatility Overview
- Low Risk: Many small wins, rarely big payouts, usually under 2x, maximum 29x.
- Medium Risk: Noticeable swings, higher chances for big multipliers, up to 130x or 560x possible.
- High Risk: The highest winning potential, but rare hits and large swings, with multipliers up to 1,000x at 16 rows.
Check for Fairness: Provably Fair
At Stake Plinko, transparency in every round is our top priority. Our Provably Fair system lets us independently verify all game outcomes. The foundation is three seed values that cryptographically determine the result before the ball is dropped.
| Seed | Source | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Server Seed (secret) | Stake | 256-bit hex value, displayed as a SHA-256 hash, remains hidden until it is changed. |
| Client Seed | Player | Can be set individually and changed at any time without interrupting the game. |
| Nonce | System | Counter that increases with each round and makes each bet unique. |
How We Verify a Round
- Secure the hash: At the start, we see the SHA-256 hash of the secret server seed.
- Start the game: After placing your bet and dropping the ball, the server calculates the result using
HMAC-SHA-256(Server Seed, Client Seed-Nonce). - Change the seed: When you switch, the previously secret server seed is revealed and a new one is generated.
- Verify locally: We can perform the same calculation locally. The generated random number determines the ball path and multiplier. If the hash and result match, the round is provably fair.
Verification Tool and Open Source
In the “History” section, the Stake verification tool is available to us. The fields for server seed, client seed, and nonce are already filled in. One click shows us the calculated random number, the ball path, and the multiplier. If you want, you can download the source code from GitHub and check everything offline, for example using Python. This ensures transparency at all times, without needing any programming knowledge.
Important to note: The server seed is only revealed when you voluntarily switch. This prevents any manipulation. The proven RTP is between 96.0% and 97.0%; these values can be verified using the official tables.
Controls and Game Options
Auto-Play and Stop Rules
With Stake Plinko, we rely on a flexible auto-play menu. We decide how many balls are played automatically – up to 10,000 rounds are possible. The speed can be set individually, ranging from a fast 0.3 seconds to 1.5 seconds per round. Additionally, optional stop rules give us even more control:
- Stop on Win: If a predefined net win is reached, auto-play will pause automatically.
- Stop on Loss: If our losses exceed a set value, the series will stop.
- Stop after Single Win: If we hit a high multiplier (from x100), the process can end automatically.
This way, we keep fluctuations under control, even if we’re not constantly watching the game.
Quick Mode and Keyboard Shortcuts
In Instant Mode, the game skips all ball animations and displays the result immediately. This setting is perfect for testing strategies or collecting rakeback more quickly. Each round then takes about 0.2 seconds by default. Various keyboard shortcuts allow us to control the game even more directly:
- Spacebar starts the ball or pauses auto-play
- Arrow ↑/↓ changes the bet amount
- R cycles through the risk levels
Custom key bindings are not currently available; all shortcuts can be found in the help section.
Sound, Animations, and Comfort
With the audio button, we can toggle background music and effect sounds independently. If you want to focus on the essentials, you can also turn off the peg highlight animation. Your choices take effect immediately and do not interrupt ongoing rounds.
- Session History: Under “Bet History,” you can review every individual bet, multiplier, and win at a glance.
- Repeat Bet: One click is enough to repeat the bet and risk level from your previous round.
- Mobile Shortcuts: On your smartphone, a swipe up is enough for the next throw, and a long press opens the menu.
With these settings, we can tailor the game speed, controls, and comfort to our preferences.
Deposits and Withdrawals with Crypto
Depositing with Cryptocurrencies
At Stake, we use well-known cryptocurrencies for deposits, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ripple, Tron, and Tether (TRC20 & ERC20). In the cashier section, you select the desired coin and receive a personal wallet address. For XRP and TRX, a memo or tag is also required. After sending from your own wallet, Stake does not charge any fees.
| Coin | Min. Deposit | Network Confirmations | Fixed Withdrawal Fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| BTC | none, technically from 0.00005 BTC | 1 | 0.00007 BTC |
| ETH | none | 12 | 0.003 ETH |
| LTC | none | 6 | 0.0002 LTC |
| DOGE | none | 20 | 1.5 DOGE |
| BCH | none | 3 | 0.00001 BCH |
| XRP* | 10 XRP | 1 | 0.25 XRP |
| TRX* | 10 TRX | 21 | 1 TRX |
| USDT-TRC20 | 1 USDT | 1 | 1 USDT |
*Memo/Tag required
Deposits are usually credited within a few minutes, depending on network traffic. Minimum amounts and address details are shown directly in the cashier section, making transfer errors virtually impossible.
Simple Withdrawals
For withdrawals, you enter the destination address, select the amount, and confirm using two-factor authentication. Smaller amounts are typically processed and paid out within a few minutes after a short review. For larger amounts or first-time withdrawals, it may take a bit longer. Once approved, you receive a transaction ID to check the status in the blockchain explorer.
The withdrawal is credited after reaching the required network confirmations, as listed in the table. Most delays are caused by network congestion or recipient fees, not by Stake itself.
Note: The minimum withdrawal amount is usually double the respective withdrawal fee. Any changes to limits or fees are clearly shown in the withdrawal section.
Regulatory Information for Canada
License and Legal Framework
Stake Plinko is offered by Medium Rare N.V., a company licensed by the Curaçao Gaming Authority (Sub-License 8048/JAZ). However, this license is not recognized in Canada. Since local regulations vary by province, operators can only offer virtual slot games like Plinko with a provincial license. Without this, the offer is considered explicitly unauthorized gambling, not a grey area. This also affects us when we use Stake Plinko – access can be restricted or blocked at any time.
Requirements for Licensed Providers
- Self-exclusion registries: Every login requires a status check
- Real-time reporting: All transactions are reported to authorities in real time
- Monthly deposit limit of CA$1,500 per player
- Real-time age verification before the first deposit
- Cryptocurrencies and anonymous wallets are not permitted as payment methods
Currently, Stake does not meet these requirements. Therefore, Canadian authorities may order payment or IP blocks, which can directly affect deposits and withdrawals.
Age and Identity Verification
You must be at least 18 years old to use Stake, and identity verification (KYC) is required before any withdrawals—such as a passport and proof of address. These procedures meet international standards but do not fully satisfy immediate verification requirements in Canada.
Availability of Stake Plinko in Canada
Use can be restricted or blocked by legal regulations. Many banks and payment services block transfers to unlicensed providers, which may result in lost deposits. Anyone who still plays risks a fine under Canadian law. We recommend always checking the current legal situation and only playing with providers licensed in your province.
Bet Planning and Risk Strategies
Dividing Your Bankroll Wisely
From our experience, it’s smart to split your balance into many small units. This way, we remain flexible and always keep an overview. If we wager only 1 to 3 percent of our capital per round—for example, about CA$10 when our total balance is CA$500—we can easily cushion longer losing streaks. This ensures we don’t lose everything too quickly and allows us to stay in the game longer.
Choosing Rows and Risk Cleverly
| Risk Level | Rows | Max. Multiplier | Variance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low | 8–16 | × 5.6 | low |
| Medium | 8–16 | × 15 | medium |
| High | 8–16 | × 1,000 | high |
You can set between 8 and 16 rows. The more rows you choose, the further out the pockets with high multipliers are—the chance of big wins increases, but they are hit less frequently. At Stake, the RTP is a consistent 99 percent for all versions, but the volatility varies significantly depending on your selection.
Carefully Evaluate Progressions and Patterns
- Each round is based on its own verifiable seed and is independent.
- Strategies like Martingale or Fibonacci do not affect your chances of winning.
- Doubling your bet after losses can quickly deplete your balance, especially when the bet limit of CA$5,000 per ball comes into play.
That’s why we prefer to rely on clear stop-loss limits, for example, 20 percent of our bankroll, and set a profit target, such as doubling our starting balance. If either of these targets is reached, we end the session consistently. This way, we maintain control and can better manage our gameplay.
FAQs
Demo Mode Available
We offer a practice mode that can be used after logging in. In Practice Mode, you can test all features using virtual credits. All features, risk levels, and rows are available just like in real money play.
Betting Limits Overview
The minimum and maximum bets depend on the chosen cryptocurrency. For example, you can start with a minimum bet of 0.000001 BTC, 0.00002 ETH, or 0.01 USDT. Per ball, the limit is 5 BTC or the equivalent of $100,000 CAD. The exact amounts are displayed in the betting field.
Maximum Win Per Round
The highest multiplier reaches up to 1,000× (high risk, 16 rows). In addition, Stake limits individual wins to a maximum of $2.5 million CAD per round, regardless of your bet amount.
Connection Interruptions
If your connection is interrupted, the round will be completed on the server. Once reconnected, you can view the result, hash, and credit in your account history.
Round Speed
With standard animation, a round lasts about two seconds. In fast mode or with auto-play, you can play up to ten balls per second.
Multipliers and Bet Amount
The bet amount does not affect the multipliers. The provably-fair algorithm determines the outcome based on the server seed, client seed, and nonce, independent of your bet.
Export Game History
In the Account → Game History section, you can filter your rounds and export them as a CSV file. Each round includes a hash for verification.
Maximum Multiplier
With 16 rows and high risk, the multiplier is 1,000×. With fewer rows, the value decreases, for example to 130× with eight rows.
Mobile Use
Stake's Plinko runs on all popular smartphones and tablets. The HTML5 version adapts to mobile devices and replaces mouse clicks with touch controls without any limitations.
